Atlantische Welle

A translation from an anonymous black-and-white photo of a wave crashing into a graphite drawing on a 150 x 115 cm sheet of paper.

The photograph, founded on the street, was used as a "found footage," but re-interpreted through the slow and patient gesture of graphite drawing: as an appreciation gesture to the mysterious ways on how images find us, carrying meanings and revealing in time, something more than what initially perceive.

A drawing that began in Buenos Aires, then the paper was folded to fit into a suitcase, traveled folded from Buenos Aires, passing through the Atlantic ocean to reach Berlin. 

Through the wave, interpreted as a symbolic archetype, this work speaks of a path traced, of leaving and arriving, telling an oscillating story of movement and migration.

Like the Japanese technique of Kintsugi, the folds in the paper reveals also the beauty of the transition.
